Linda Fung's Story
Every Sunday, we would get up around 3:30 Am in the morning, have something to eat and then pack the family into the car and drive down to the City to get there in time to see Si Fu. This went on for just about every weekend for years in the 1970’s. I was always thought of as Randy’s wife, so I did not have as much close personal contact with Si Fu or Si Mu, but became close friends with many of the other students.

I used to walk out on the bridge and my workout spot was the south end after Bing had finished his sets.
I remember going down the stairs at the square onto the lower level, and the smell of the bums in the dark mornings. Our baby son would be left in the car, and I always kept an anxious eye on him.

I especially remember Lily Li and her beauty and grace. After class we all would go out to a morning breakfast and tell storys and have a great time. Then we would all walk back through chinatown with the various smells drifting from the herb shops, and the bustle of the markets opening.
After classes we would drive home and stop at the marin Co-op and buy groceries. It was a hour and half drive, so from the time we left out house in the morning to when we got home was usually 10 hours. I remember that I would always be sleepy later that day. Not the usual afternoon drowse, but a deep tired feeling from all the activity and working out. That was the part I didn’t like, the feeling of being sleepy the rest of the day.
