As direct students of this inspiring master, we are forever grateful for that special magical time that we studied with him, and how it has forever transformed our lives.

This site is not intended to be a history of Kuo Lien Ying, his life or his lineage. Although that is very important, much of that has been recorded and listed elsewhere on the web.

What was missing however was the first hand accounts of what we experienced studying with Si Fu. So this site has been created as a “virtual Portsmouth Square” where we can reunite, relive old memories, share stories, photos, films and what we have learned, and how we have carried it forward into our present day lives.

We were fortunate to live the history and it is our duty to share it with others as it was.
Only by each of us recounting that era can a true picture be drawn from our collective experiences. As humans, our memories can be fallible. But, by all of us contributing to the total picture, a clear concise history of that small golden moment in time can be vividly painted.

It is our privilege and responsibility to pass on what has been given to us, in what ever small way that we can. It’s the least that we can do to pay tribute.

So we are inviting all past students of Kuo Lien Ying, who studied in the studio and Portsmouth square from 1965 to 1985 to come back and gather for one more time to share in this virtual experience and share with history!
